Dr. Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Chief (Sarsanghchalak), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) recently made his maiden visit to Advanced Research Center of Dr. G.M. Taori Central India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS-ARC), Nagpur. CIIMS is one of the oldest frontline multi-specialty hospital in Nagpur which recently inaugurated its new state of art Research building early this year dedicated for doing cutting edge research in field of Neurosciences and infectious diseases. Dr. Bhagwat was here to inaugurate Next Generation Sequencing facility of CIIMS ARC which was developed as part of funding provided by Bill and Melinda Gates foundation project for studying undiagnosed brain infections using NGS. Dr. Bhagwat was received and welcomed by Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Director, CIIMS-ARC & Dr. Lokendra Singh, Director, CIIMS in presence of other distinguished guest which included Shri Pravin Tapadia ji, Chairman, CIIMS, Shri. Anil Parakh, Vice Chairman and other members of CIIMS Hospital & Management. Before Inaugurating the NGS facility, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat interacted with Eminent scientist, Research students and Clinicians of CIIMS ARC in an open panel discussion session and also listened to their problems, challenges faced during their research. He also motivated young scientist and emphasized on collectively working together under one health to outreach their research outcome to benefit of society.  After the interactive session, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat inaugurated NGS facility of CIIMS ARC, and Nagpur regions first Benchtop sequencer, by Illumina and briefly made visit to the sequencing facility wherein he was explicitly explained about the work on NGS carried out by Scientist at ARC. Dr. Bhagwatji appreciated the NGS facility and scientific team of CIIMS ARC for research work.  After NGS Facility inauguration, Dr. Mohan Bhagwatji attended special program at CIIMS where he inaugurated CIIMS ARC first annual newsletter showcasing various activities and achievement of CIIMS and Science Scientist Society wing, an initiative of CIIMS ARC for outreaching their research for societal benefit. Dr. Lokendra Singh, Director, CIIMS and Shri. Pravin Tapadia, Chairman, CIIMS made welcome remarks and thanked Dr. Bhagwat for attending the event. They also acknowledged the excellent work by CIIMS ARC team done over the years. Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Director Research, CIIMS-ARC gave brief overview about the research activities and also highlighted that main outcome of CIIMS ARC has been societal benefit. Dr. Bhagwat acknowledged the work carried out by hospital and Research and also highlighted that Research Is working on the same direction which he wanted to propose. He also assured his support wherever possible for research outreach for benefit of society in Nagpur region. The program was attended eminent scientist, academicians, businessmen, social workers from Nagpur region. Prominent members from CIIMS hospital and management among others also graced this event.
