Advanced Research Centre for Promoting Translational Research to save lives.

Dr. G.M Taori Central India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS), Hospital, Bajaj Nagar, Nagpur in its quest to promote Research and Development in area of Neurosciences expanded its research wing by opening a dedicated research building. The four storied building named as CIIMS Advanced Research Centre, (CIIMS-ARC) comprises of state of art facility for conducting cutting edge research in areas of molecular biology, Immunology, clinical biochemistry, Cell culture and clinical Microbiology. The Hospital based research Centre is one of kind Centre in whole of India developed with objective of doing translational bed side to bench research by symbiotic collaboration between scientist and neurophysician to develop affordable diagnostic test for detecting various infection of Central nervous system and other non-neurological infections and ultimately to save patients life. The success of establishing CIIMS ARC for research have been only possible through active & continuous support from CIIMS Management and Director, CIIMS.

Established in 1983 by late founder Director, Dr. G.M Taori, CIIMS is a charitable and one of the biggest multispecialty hospital Nagpur, providing affordable patientcare services for past 40 years. CIIMS Research has been recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India since its inception. The journey of research at CIIMS started under visionary leadership of two stalwarts, late Dr G.M Taori, renowned neurophysician and Dr. H.F. Daginawala, an ace Microbiologist and Neuroscientist.  In 2000, basic life sciences research Centre was established under small basement area of hospital which was eventually further expanded to annexe research centre in 2012 to carry out R&D beyond basic research.

The CIIMS ARC operates in four separate specialized wings indicated by Dr Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Director , CIIMS ARC, which include diagnostics , specialized in routine patientcare investigation. The Next wing is capacity building wing conceptualized especially for promoting capacity building in students through conducting training and certificate course around the year on cutting edge research techniques.

The other two wings include academic wing, does research projects funded by Govt and International funding agencies and lastly technology transfer wing , established recently to promote IPR and commercialization of developed diagnostics and technology through Industrial collaboration led under dynamic leadership of Dr. Rajpal Singh. Kashyap, Director, Research, along with excellent scientific team like Dr. Hatim Daginawla Honorary Research Consultant, Dr Rajpal Singh Kashyap (Director, Research), Dr Amit Nayak, and Dr Aliabbas Husain (Research Consultants), one Research officer (Mrs. Payal Khulkhule) and team of other budding Ph.D. students and research fellows. The CIIMS ARC has developed future road map with vision to foster multidisciplinary research through further strengthening its four wings through by fostering multi-collaboration and funding from Academic, Research Institutes from Indian and abroad.
