TRIBAL SATELLITE CENTER

CIIMS ARC has its Tribal Satellite Centre at Melghat in collaboration with MAHAN Trust (Meditation, Addiction, Health, AIDS, Nutrition). Till date CIIMS and MAHAN have published 6 publications. Using our TB diagnostic tests we have detected aprox 27% of Tb cases in adult and 15% cases in children and infants. In addition to that, using our developed ELISA for latent TB using dormancy regulon protein we have diagnosed more than 30% of cases which are latently infected. University of Nottingham, CIIMS-ARC, MAHAN worked together in Indo-UK project to study incidences of C.difficile in Tribal population along with AMR prevalence using NGS. We came to know the exact incidence of C.diff in melghat and also the list of other bacterial, viral, and fungal based diarrheal infections. In addition to that, under ICMR project we did a pilot study on zoonotic infection, including brucella, listreia and Bovine TB. The first time the incidence of these cases were studied and reported in this part of the India. The lab was inaugurated in November 2018, and all the advance facilities like proteomics , DNA work ( molecular biology), Cell culture, Microbiology, Immunology, and Biochemistry were established. The brucella kit which was developed under the ICMR project handed over to MAHAN for brucella diagnosis through our director and in presence of our managment members. The data we are generating in this area will be useful for policy making for health especially for tribal population.
